For those of you who travel on Rollins Road near Hainesville Road, you may wonder what is going on at Gateway Park. That is the park directly across from Mallard Creek shopping center where McDonald’s is located.
I had seen several trucks there for the last few days along with a big dumpster and thought I would pay the crew a visit to see just what it was they were up to. As it turns out, the old pavilion is undergoing a massive face lift including roof, stairs, railings, and more. Now if someone could just figure out a way to get rid of the Canadian geese who make it almost impossible to walk around that area.

Maybe we will all have to ‘ride’ around there like the young fellow with his mini-bike (not sure if it was gas or electric but either way, probably not allowed on the asphalt walkways)

Mother Nature has finally answered our calls and given us some beautiful weather so that we can all enjoy WHY we moved to the Round Lake area.
If you were out and about today, hopefully you squeezed some time in to visit the Annual Round Lake Area Business Expo at the Sports Center. There was a steady flow of visitors and plenty to look at as you can see from the slide show below NOTE: Not all of the businesses and organizations that were involved in the Expo appear in the slide show.
Remember that tomorrow is the BIG Indoor Garage Sale from 10:00 to 4:00
We posted earlier about the nice addition to the Round Lake Beach lakefront that went on for several years but didn’t have our camera with us on the day we first viewed it.
After a trip to the Avon Assessor’s office and a delicious Italian beef sandwich and large bag of fries from Big Jacks on Hainesville Road (see business directory) we felt the need for a walk! Come along with me as we discovered areas we didn’t even know existed at the new lakefront addition. Holding your mouse over each photo will identify it.
With temperatures reaching 70* this coming week many of us will be doing some ‘house-cleaning’ to get rid of ’stuff’ we no longer need and to make room for new ’stuff’. If you have some items of value then mark your calendar for Round Lake Area Park District’s Indoor Garage Sale being held at the Sports Center on April 18th from 10:00 to 4:00. The Sports Center is located at 2004 Municipal Way in Round Lake Beach (behind the post office).

It’s never too early to plan ahead for an exciting day with the Easter Bunny and getting a basket full of treats!
Mark your calendar for the Round Lake Area Park District’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt being held on March 27th and starting at 11:00 sharp. Besides the Easter Bunny, there will be lots of treats spread out at Hart’s Woods for ages 3-8 egg hunters. You must supply your own bag or basket and come early because the eggs get scooped up fast!
