Joe Walsh Horse Trailer Coming To Your Neighborhood

Posted by editor     Category: District 116 Area News, Political Issues, Round Lake News

We generally see politicians traveling around in a decked out mini-bus or motor home but Republican Congressional candidate for the 8th District, Joe Walsh, is doing something different. He will be pulling a horse trailer around the District that has been wrapped from top to bottom with his message “Let’s Take Our Country Back!” and asking voters at each stop to sign their names on the trailer stating “Yes, I’m in…I want my country back”.

Why a horse trailer?  Walsh’s campaign newsletters explains it like this:

“First, the 8th district is home to many horse farms,” Walsh explained.  “There are horse farms throughout McHenry and Lake Counties from Richmond through Antioch over to Winthrop Harbor and down into Wauconda and Barrington Hills.  I’ve attended three in-district rodeos already this summer.  Even in the more densely populated northwest suburban Cook County portion of the district, we have many residents who are connected to the outdoors and live in the 8th district because of our proximity to open green space.”

”Second, horses, and correspondingly our horse trailer, are a symbol of freedom,”  Walsh continued.  “And that’s really what this election boils down to.  Are we going to allow unchecked federal power to further constrict our cherished personal freedoms or are we going to restore a sense of balance to our citizenry and our government?”

So if, over the next 90 days, you see the Joe Walsh Horse Trailer in your neighborhood it will not have any horse in it. Instead, it will be a moving billboard with hundreds, if not thousands, of signatures of Republicans, Independents, and Democrats in the 8th District who are  concerned about the direction the country is heading.

Candidate Walsh continues to take direct questions at his town hall meetings being held regularly throughout the District. He has also updated his website with a whole new look at www.WalshForCongress.com  where you can find out where Joe will be speaking as well as where you will see the horse trailer if you are interested in signing it.

A Packed House At Health Care Forum

Posted by editor     Category: District 116 Area News, Political Issues

8th Congressional District Candidate Joe Walsh had to have been pleasantly surprised by the packed house turn out at his sponsored Health Care Forum held Thursday evening on very short notice. With introductions from panelists Dr. George W. Christy, Dr. Arie Friedman, business owner Joe Fehsenfeld, and candidate Joe Walsh, the floor was opened up to the audience who could ask any question they wanted to any of the participants.

With the time approaching the 8:30 PM ending, not a soul got up to leave as questions and answers continued for another 1/2 hour. It was a very informative forum with views of the recently passed Health Care Bill from a doctor’s perspective as well as a business owner.

ObamaCare Will Cost You $3,900

Posted by editor     Category: District 116 Area News, Political Issues

The federal government takeover of our health care system will cost the average 8th District resident $3,900, so says a study on the proposed Obamacare legislation by the Illinois Policy Institute (IPI). IPI Study

According to IPI, “As part of the total bill, the net present value of all additional federal government expenditures through 2019 that will occur as a result of the current health care proposal  is $1.2 trillion, or a $3,900 bill for every person in the U.S.”

“The government takeover of health care will not only worsen the quality of care and decimate small businesses, it will bankrupt our nation,” said Joe Walsh, Republican Congressional nominee for the 8th District referring to an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).  CBO Study

The CBO puts the federal debt at more than $20 trillion by the year 2020, in part as a result of Obama’s plan to increase federal spending by another $2.3 trillion over the next ten years after already more than doubling the nation’s debt in just his first year in office.

“The bottom line: we cannot afford Obamacare!

Joe Walsh vs. Melissa Bean = Two Outsiders?

Posted by editor     Category: Political Issues

(UPDATE July 2010) Joe Walsh and his family have officially taken up residence in McHenry, thus making it official that he is no longer an ‘outsider’. Melissa Bean, on the other hand, continues to reside ‘outside’ of the 8th Congressional District

Voters in the 8th Congressional District now have the unique situation of having both the Democratic and Republican candidates living outside the District. Melissa Bean claims her house, in Long Grove, is just ‘on the other side of the street’ while Joe Walsh lives in Winnetka. It has been well known during Bean’s tenure as our elected Representative that she has lived just outside our District but the more we read about Walsh’s housing situation the more skeptical we are about his being forthright. OK, let’s face it, a lot of people got behind the eight ball due to the current housing situation and have lost their homes. I certainly won’t hold that against someone who is running for public office.

But what does bother me is that he moved twice in Winnetka rather than moving into our District. With a foreclosure pending on his Evanston condo it would seem like someone making his reported $40,000 annual income would have been a good candidate for rental housing in our area. Compared to what the rent on an $800,000+ home would be as compared to a similar square foot home in somewhere like Mundelein with a market value of less than half that, it doesn’t quite add up. Even though Walsh may be a little embarrassed about having his condo foreclosed it may come around to bite him in the behind by the voters of the District. It also doesn’t sound as though the Central Committee is planning on throwing much campaign money his way since he was not their choice to run against Bean.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out over the next several months and whether Joe Walsh decides to step aside rather than continue on due to the media pressure that it has generated.
